I had this need to make a beret. So I did.
As soon as it was done, I put it on my head and feeling quite proud of myself I said to Mike, my darling husband, "Hey! What do you think?" He said, "So, are you gonna go paint something now?" What a dork. No use in explaining to him that it's now fashionable for anyone to wear a beret, not just painters. Then I turn to Veronica (What was I thinking?! Big mistake to ask a teenager anything to do with fashion. Unless it's "attitude" you want for an answer.) and she says, "Yeah, well, cute. But I wouldn't wear it." I then asked her if I'd told her how much I hate her today. She laughed.
So, with a head shake of disgust mixed with humor, I put my hat in my knitting bag for Wednesday. Hopefully my knitting sisters will have something more positive to say. Or lie to me. At this point I don't think I'd mind it one bit.
Is it that bad? The hat I mean...not my knitting critics. Should I block it so it's not so slouchy?
I think I'll make another beret because I just haven't had enough abuse yet. I'd like to try this one. I think it's the one Jackie did and it's super cute! I have some Malabrigo that would be good for it, I hope.
Okay girlfriend, an honest opinion from a knon-knitter, here goes:
ReplyDeleteI think slouchy beret hats are very cute (and you look cute in them with your curly hair) BUT I think that the color of this one does nothin for ya. Now if it was the same color as that sweater you just made....
I love the pattern and yarn you have picked out for the next one. You go girl!
Oh Brennee, what can I say...but, "Oh Brennee..."
