The Haps
I have been getting so much knitting done. I finished two sweaters, a gift for someone for their b-day (trying to keep it secret, cuz this person reads my blog...but said person is pretty sharp, so it might not be so secret now), and a lacy shawlette. I started another sweater and another shawlette. I still need to put buttons on one of the sweaters, too. I'm very excited about getting the sweaters done, it's April and I'm on my fourth sweater for the year. Sweet!!
My in-laws arrived yesterday!! Today I'm working, but Mike has the day off to play with his folks. Justine is getting an award at lunchtime today, so they'll all go. Great timing on that eh!?
Oh, forgot to mention. We got a new TV. This is huge for us. There were many things keeping us from getting a new TV. First of all, I HATE to buy a replacement for something that still works. But just because something still works doesn't mean it doesn't warrant replacement. "Still works" was kinda pushing it with the old TV; the picture was a little sideways, and every once in a while a corner of the picture would be purple or green, plus was at least 15 years old. HD? Not on this baby. So we broke down and got a nice TV that brought us into the 21st Century. We also got the Blueray and DVR, too...now we really feel high-tech! We don't own any Blueray movies mind you. Not yet anyway. The plan is to buy Avatar on Blueray and have a movie night with the folks (they haven't seen it...shocking, I know)!
We will also be celebrating our anniversaries while they're here. Yup, we got married on the same day, and well...same place, too (Vegas, baby!). We'll be celebrating our 18th and they'll be celebrating their 51st. Gotta love that!
On a side note: I took Joey to his Freshman orientation at the high school last night. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I will have two kids in HIGH SCHOOL next year! I'm goin' with the flow, just seems like the flow is goin' awfully fast sometimes. I'll keep hanging on tight and enjoying the ride I guess.

Runnin' and Knittin'...but not at the same time. Yet.
My neighbor, Lisa, and I did our first 5K together on Saturday. It was the Fleming Island Rotary Run! Yes! Finally a run in my town!! The run was at 6pm, which I didn't like at all. As most of you know, I'm a morning person, so having to wait all day for the race. Ugh. We ran together the whole time and our time was 35:47. Not bad! I actually placed 4th in my age group, I just missed out on an award because they were giving out trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Double ugh! It was a great run and the weather was nice and cool.
Just wanted to share PicnicKnits's post on her blog about the Bakersfield Shawlette I sample knit for her. Lots of pretty pictures of the shawl. Visit her website and check out her stuff...you'll love it, too!

Quiet Day
Today is a quiet day. Not by force mind you, as in "turn off that d*** TV!" Joey is in DC and Mike's at work. So the girls and I are just hanging out. The TV is off, but the noise of the AC (finally broke down and turned it on), the washer and dryer fill the house. Earlier you could hear the new ice cream maker working it's magic. I've filled it with my own noise...the click of knitting needles and now the click of keyboard keys.
Earlier the girls helped me clean up the patio. The table and chairs had turned yellow from the pollen in the air over the last few months, so it took some elbow grease and time to get it sparkling again. The pool, unfortunately is still too cold for real swimming. Justine did jump in yesterday...pool temp was 70. She always does this; I guess she just can't resist.
I sat outside at the nice clean table and worked on the Bakersfield Shawlette sample I'm doing for PicnicKnits. It's close to being done and I'm determined to finish it tonight ("barn door" Jen & Jodi would call it). The birds were singing, pool pumps were humming, and Cast-On's Brenda Dane was in one ear talking to me about Occam's Knitting (yeah, I'm a little behind on the Podcasts). To me, that's a quiet day. No yelling, no fighting, no TV blaring, no dog barking, no guilt in my head about what I should or shouldn't BE doing. Quiet. I'm enjoying and appreciating it while it's here.

New Lions Bridge!
The Lions Bridge in St. Augustine has been under construction for a few years now. A temporary bridge was erected while construction was going on and will now be dismantled, towed out to sea and will become an artificial reef...cool!
Today we went to St. Augustine and were so surprised to see the new Lions Bridge open! The official opening hasn't happened yet (I don't think), but we could drive and walk on it...it's so pretty! I can't wait till they get the lion statues back at the foot on the bridge on the St. Augustine side.
Velocity
Here's the entire drumline, instructors and all.
Velocity Pit!
What a great season for Velocity drumline! They got first place in all but one competition. Veronica had such a great time. She couldn't have done it without the generosity of her Aunt Barb & Uncle Mark, Nana and especially her Grandaddy!
Thanks again everyone!!
